Product description

BASF Ultrasfuse PPSU

Ultrafuse PPSU (Polyphenylsulfones) was specially developed for FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) printing based on BASF's advanced Ultrason materials. The Ultrason resins are amorphous thermoplastics made of polyethersulfone (PESU), polysulfone (PSU) and polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and guarantee a very high thermal resistance. With its wide range of material performance benefits, Ultrafuse PPSU can be successfully used in applications where other plastics, e.g. polyamide, polycarbonate, polyoxymethylene and polyalkylene terephthalates, do not meet performance requirements. Its inherent flame-retarding properties make it a particularly suitable material for the aerospace industry.

Advantages of BASF Ultrafuse PPSU Filament

  • Inherently flame retardant
  • Creep resistance at high temperatures
  • Short term temperature resistance up to 220 °C
  • Resistant against hot water and coolant
  • Resistant against continuous service temperatures up to 180 °C
  • oil-resistant, even at temperatures up to 170 °C
  • High dimensional stability
  • Fuel and fluorine resistant

Applications for BASF Ultrafuse PPSU Filament

As the material requires a high temperature printer, BASF Ultrafuse PPSU is mainly used in industry. PPSU is suitable for the production of fittings, pipes and also brackets and devices. The plastic can be used for a wide range of technical applications that require chemical resistance and water resistance, while at the same time requiring temperature resistance and impact strength.

Note: This 3D print filament is a high temperature material. For processing, a suitable printer with heatable installation space and above-average high printing nozzle temperature and printing bed temperature is required, such as from Intamsys or Minifactory. PPSU and PEI 9085 from the German chemical company BASF can each be used as a mutual support material.
